Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance ?
Manhattan Headache Care does not participate with any insurance plans. This allows us to focus entirely on your care without the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies. We are an out-of-network office. Payment in full is due at the time of service. We provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement (depending on your insurance plan).
Please note that your health insurance can still be used to cover external services such as diagnostic tests and medication authorizations.
Do you accept Medicare?
Manhattan Headache Care has formally opted out of the Medicare program. This means we do not bill Medicare, and Medicare will not reimburse you for our professional services.
Even though we have opted out, your Medicare benefits can still be used for other medically necessary services we order, such as diagnostic tests and prescription medications.
How long are appointments?
Initial consultations are typically 60 minutes. Follow-up visits and procedure vists are 30 minutes. We never double book appointments to ensure we have ample time to focus on your care.
Do I need a referral?
Because we are out-of-network, our office does not require a referral to see you. However, your insurance plan may require one in order for you to be reimbursed.
Note: If you are a Medicare beneficiary, referrals do not apply as Medicare does not provide reimbursement for our services.
What do I need to complete before my initial consultation?
Please complete the initial intake forms and paperwork that were emailed to you before your scheduled appointment.
To ensure we make the most of our consultation time, please email or fax the following documents ahead of time or bring them with you:
- Medical Records: Relevant notes from previous neurologists or other specialists.
- Test Results: Recent imaging reports (MRI/CT scans) or laboratory results.
- Medication List: A complete list of all past and current medications, including dosages.
- Headache Diary: Any tracking you have done of your symptoms and triggers.

Do you offer telemedicine visits?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telemedicine visits. Please note that Dr. Jann is licensed in the state of New York; therefore, the patient must be physically located within New York state at the time of the telemedicine visit.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that plans change. Please notify us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment so we may offer that time to another patient who needs to be seen. Appointments canceled within 24 hours will incur a late fee. You can cancel by contacting the office or sending a message through the patient portal.
What happens if I am late to an appointment?
We strive to stay on schedule so that you don't have to wait. To respect the time of all our patients, we offer a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your scheduled time, we may need to shorten your visit or reschedule your appointment. If you are running late, please contact the office or send a message through the patient portal as soon as possible.
